While on my summer vacation – i decided to knit and FINISH some pieces. I started and finished my Stripes Galore, my Bowerbird (a September KAL), my Combinatorics (a Sept-Oct KAL) and my Kappa and .. that’s it. i have some pieces to bind off and some that need a few days to get done. But.. i have started new ones – this stuff needs a diagnosis! I can’t be alone 😀
Bind Off beauties
I’m such a bad bad trimmer. The Dingy Trimmer
Right.. So.. i have been munching newbies like a hungry wolf but i have finished some! *Breaking News!* 😀
The pattern it self calls for 4x lace yarn in 50g. Moving from one color into another. But I wanted some smaller stripes – and so i decided to knit mine from 2 colors with even stripes. Am knitting away my stash – with my last drops lace c3620 (100g) and my last ice yarn (50g). Thinning the herd.
I started this one in mid-August and it has taken me almost a month now – to get to the very final section! Stripes are done – it looks amazing.
This has been one of those easy knits ˜ auto-mode knitting. My yarn choice is excellent – super warm when worn as a scarf (at least! I have not tried it on yet as a poncho). An excellent knit for the cold winter.
this KAL was awesome! The pattern is so well written it is – i think.. impossible to make mistakes. The lace is easy to remember (row-by-row). As i knitted this while on vacation – this one was a very happy Netflix-knit.
Yarn i used for MC was 100% wool (Ohut Pirkkalanka) to accommodate me in the coming winter. But just before i was able to finish – i run out of the color and refused to get a whole new skein for just 6 rows – i decided to kick in some leftovers. A dark blue line, my very last meters of Shilasdair Luxury 4ply (in winter loch). And in my opinion – it turned out very very good 😀
this was a MKAL. First for me. The pattern called for two colors, but was good with just one too. I went for the one color knit-along. This was an easy knit for sure, pattern was written well – but, i think i would have liked it more if it had been allover garter stitch, like shetland lace. But i learned new techniques and lace patterns, the yarn worked beautifully and all-in-all this was a fun knit!
I used Ohut Pirkkalanka in a special season colorway – i would call it “burnt autumn latte”
the Sleeper-camp and the WIP
Maybe one day – someday they will get finished.
There aren’t that many sleepers currently (lie) – many are only a few hours or minutes to finish (lie). But am a very naughty knitter when it comes to finishing them – i will wiggle as long as i can. With my knits – i think am waiting for winter, when i get to wear them 😀 Trimming the threads is the most boring thing in knitting – i know of. So boring! I had a friend visiting once who loved it – she trimmed a few of my trim-sleepers 😀 best visitor ever!
Sleeper-camp consists of many of the old ones, my Juniper, Nuuk, Louhos, Granito and Lightweight Pullover have gotten some buddies from Fly Forward (trim), Diagonal Pinstripe Scarf and Float and a small herd of knit-alongs, thou most did get finished by the time am publishing this 😛
From the original list (mentioned in BIND OFF #1 and the sleeping beauties) i have finished many (2) and proceeded on one – still missing some yarn! hehe – excuses vs. boredom. But i have been hunting for the yarn from locals shoppes – with no luck.
WIP: my Diagonal Pinstripe Scarf – 70%
This is more of a “i-knit-it-while-traveling-or-bored” as i think it’s supposed to be knitted like – to get those uneven cool stripes – like a story abt the knit and time it takes.
Am on my last MC-ball. Am knitting this one with 100% Wool as MC and CC from a Linen yarn. Light but warm – my goal.
my Fly Forward – 99% (trim)
I decided to go down a needle size with this one. My Fly Forward was knitted with 4mm and i used my very last Rowan Fine Tweed to it. All i have left is to trim the beginning and the end.. that is all!! But am moving to a new apartment – and it has been packed away.. because if i don’t see it – it can’t give me dirty looks.
my Louhos – 97%
am so close! This is just abt bind off. I have knitted the sweater (one piece from sleeve to sleeve) now all i have is to put it together. And Trim. oh.. trimming..
my Float – 60%
This one is on a hiatus! I started this knit in june 2017 – am 60% done and then i just had to get a change of fibre or needle size – not sure. This is a good knit, i just get easily bored when knitting with 3mm size. Thou it’s probably my favourite needle size!
it’s a mystery..
I don’t think these will give me any trouble.. and then i laughed.
I took part in two MKAL’s on my summer vacation – because i had time (on a summer vacation – in September). Am knitting solely from my stash – as am prepping for a move and a light load is better than even a bigger stash!
While I took part into two mystery knit-alongs I also did a lace shawl KAL. I explained these new projects to myself as being timed.. 😀 Hence they will get DONE in a given period – and then i’ll get to the UFOs – very.. very likely.
And by the time am publishing this post – i have finished, trimmed and blocked two of them. A super awesome shawl, pattern so well written there was no possibility of an error. And a lace shawl MKAL that was well written and a great mystery to solve!
i MKAL – Combinatorics (link into ravelry pattern page) finished on 8th October.
ii KAL – Bowerbird (link into ravelry pattern page) finished on 18th September.
iii MKAL – Tilted Cowl (has not started yet) (link into ravelry pattern page) to be finished sometime after the last clue (October 11th) – ahem.. 6 rows, trimming and blocking to go.. getting there.. next week maybe.
